Ohhh, holller…. I don’t know much about Pulp Fiction, but I hear Princess of Mars is a pretty big deal. Must be, since they made a new movie about it. Anyways, our final project in life drawing was to create a cover for this particular story utilizing our model as Dejah Thoris. Other requirements were the city of Helium, the two moons of Mars, and part of the Martian landscape.
Colored pencil on toned paper.
I feel like I have painted so many dinosaurs this semester…
Edmontosaurus walking through a marsh.
Painted in photoshop because corel lags too much on my computer.
I finally got around to uploading these…. here is the finished bear. I added a picture of the finished version with the maquette…I think they look kind of cute next to one another :)
Ceramics, raku fired.
A little something straight from the kiln today… I made this maquette intended for a larger piece. I love how the glaze came out. It ended up instead of doing a dinosaur for my larger piece, I went in a little different direction. The final product stems from the same thought process that went into making the structure for the maquette pictured. Stay tuned!
Environment design, I used Thomas Moran’s color palette from this painting: http://www.boltonmuseums.org.uk/collections/art/paintings_prints_and_drawings/images/artimages/moran_camp_full.jpg

Another scientific illustration from my portfolio~
Some recent work….too lazy to crop out the description. I’ve been sending portfolios to different places where I can intern as a scientific illustrator. I’m almost certain this is the path I want to take after I graduate with my BFA in Illustration. Next step is to find a graduate program I’d like to attend to accompany my BFA. In the meantime I will be taking biology related courses to beef up my existing degree.
